I’m ready for s’mores!

Today begins the first day of Camp NaNoWriMo for July 2020! It was a slow start for me today, due to my laziness and deciding to sleep in. Despite that, I was able to exceed my word count goal for today, and I now know what sort of bugs eat flour. As far as google search histories go, that’s fairly innocuous and not a little bit boring, I’m sure.

I’ve decided to set my goal for this month a little lower than my first attempt at NaNoWriMo, to make it a bit more manageable. If I can meet 20k for this month, then in November, I’ll go big and shoot for 50k.

So, not only was today the first day of Camp NaNoWriMo, BUT…it was also game night! I roll dice with some of the goofiest m*f’ers you’ll ever meet. It was a great game, though, and we all lived (though not for want of some of them trying!) Still, we slew some monsters, ransacked a wizard’s tower, and went home richer than when we left. Plus, my gold dragon PC learned to change into an elf during our exploits, so that will be handy when adventuring in cramped dungeons.

Good things are happening in my life, even if the country seems to be a massive dumpster fire. Still, I’m not one to go on and on about politics, a subject that I really can’t stand. And people wonder why I prefer fantasy.

At least in fantasy, you know what obstacles you have to get over, you know what monster you have to slay … and more importantly, you can slay them. That shit will get you prison time, in real life. In fantasy, you get the gold, the guy (or girl or whatever flavor you’re into), and the grand parade celebrating how much of a badass you are.*sigh* Sometimes, reality gets in the way of my fantasy life.

Perhaps that is why I write. The words, at least, are something I can control.
